Ready to Read

Preschool age children are doing very important work; they are preparing their brains to learn how to read! Our preschool story time is designed to help children as they are getting ready for school. In this story time, we will focus on a weekly theme and listen to stories, rhymes and songs together all while working on important early literacy skills. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend and interact with their child during these 30 minute fun filled sessions. Rhymes and movements will encourage listening skills and a variety of early literacy skills.

Examples of skills explored in these sessions are:

  • Letter recognition
  • Phonetic awareness
  • Number recognition
  • Counting skills
  • Color recognition
  • Rhyme recognition
  • Shape recognition

These sessions aren't just for kids! Parents and caregivers can learn helpful tips and tricks for sharing stories and early literacy skills with their children. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate and engage with their children during the story times.
