Mell Csicsila and his program Striking Things is now unfortunately unable to perform at the Library. Join us now for sounds of the Caribbean on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 2pm. The Steel Drums, or “steel pans” as many call it, are among the most unique of all acoustic instruments. This presentation will feature the sweet sounds of the steel pan, history lessons, and storytelling of how pan made it’s way from Trinidad and Tobago to Northeast Ohio! Joe Leaman, a graduate of the University of Akron, and former member of the acclaimed UA Steel Band, is an in-demand freelance musician and educator throughout the greater Ohio Region.
