Wadsworth Public Library Awarded for Community Improvement of the Year
(Wadsworth, OH) Wadsworth Public Library and the Wadsworth Public Library Foundation are the proud recipients of the 2018 Rosie Award for Community Improvement of the Year for recent enhancements to the Library's children's area. The award was presented by the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce at the Wednesday, April 25 Rosie Awards ceremony, at the Galaxy Banquet Center in Wadsworth.
The Rosie Awards are an annual event of the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce, honoring local organizations and professionals for their achievements and service to our excellent community.
In recent years, increased demand from parents and caregivers has required growth in program offerings and investment in collections. In 2017, with the generous support of the Library Foundation, an expansion and renovation of the children’s area was completed, with a new, interactive early literacy play area as its centerpeice. There, children and their families can experience the hands-on, playful exploration of words, colors, shapes objects and stories proven to advance their child’s early literacy skills. This new addition is another powerful pathway helping parents to model and cultivate habits of lifelong curiousity, learning and reading which pay dividends in the form of positive educational and civic outcomes for our community, all while cementing the parent-child bond.
While Wadsworth Public Library consistently ranks within the top 10th percentile among its public library peers nationwide, the appreciation of our community is the greatest and most rewarding honor we can receive.
The Library Board of Trustees and Administration wish to thank the generous financial support of the Wadsworth Public Library Foundation and the hard work of Library staff to bring this project to fruition. Thank you Wadsworth for your ongoing support and engagement with the Library. It is a privilege and honor to serve this community.
