Wadsworth Public Library is continually reviewing procedures and policies for areas of improvement. A recent event dealing with suspected theft of library materials has led us to reconsider our unlimited borrowing policy. We have determined that a limit on total borrowing is necessary to reduce the risk of future losses and improve the browsing experience by increasing the availability of materials for all patrons.

Beginning Saturday, June 30, 2018, patrons may have any combination of materials on their cards, excluding video-games, not to exceed 50 total items. Video games will be limited to 2 per account. Patrons with over 50 items currently on their accounts will be able to renew all materials. However, they will not be able to borrow additional items until reducing their balance of items below 50.

It is possible that further adjustments will be made to this policy over time as we strive to  balance convenience and availability for all patrons with the requirement of responsible management of tax payer investments in circulating materials.

While we recognize that this change will be an inconvenience to some of our regular patrons, we believe that the net effect will be an overall improvement in the browsing experience.
