First Floor Improvements

You may have heard, WPL is changing! The Wadsworth Public Library Board of Trustees approved plans for an update of furnishing and finishes on the first floor that will ensure the Library remains a popular destination and a cherished community gathering place for years to come.

The changes include:

  • New first floor combined information desk.

The existing reference desk and circulation desk will be removed and replaced with one central desk. This will create a single service point, a sort of “one stop shopping” experience where patrons will receive circulation and reference services at one location.

  • A reconfiguration of the current AV area.

New shelving for CDs, Audiobooks and DVDs.

A new public computer area complete with new computer desks and task chairs.

A new business center with a public scanning station and print release station.

  • Reconfiguration of the new book, circulation desk, and reference desk areas.

New mobile display shelving will be placed in the sections formerly occupied by the circulation desk, self check-out stations, and new book shelves.

The existing new book shelves will be reconfigured and reinstalled in the space formerly occupied by the reference desk.

  • The periodical area will be restored to its pre-COVID configuration with increased and improved task tables and chairs.

  • The public copier will be moved to the alcove behind the patron hold area. An additional small sorting table will be installed in the same area.

  • Updated LOFT area.

    Additional shelving will be installed.

A new study carrel with built in electrical access will be installed.

New mobile display shelving will be placed in the open area.

Existing tables and chairs will be replaced with new tables and chairs.

  • The meeting rooms will be refreshed with new paint, carpeting, and new tables and chairs.

  • New carpeting throughout the first floor including the Meeting Rooms.

The Library will remain open with minimal disruption to patron services. Updates should be complete by the end of 2022.
