Exciting Upcoming Improvements to the Library

In the summer of 2024, the Library’s Board of Trustees approved plans to further enhance the building and courtyard. Thanks to the increased efficiency and better utilization of space over the past decade, we are now able to transform behind-the-scenes staff areas into additional public space, all without expanding the building’s footprint.

Construction will begin in April 2025. During this time, some services may be temporarily disrupted, and we appreciate your patience as we work to improve your Library experience.

We’ll be posting regular updates on this page as the project progresses, so please stay tuned for more information.

Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Daniel Slife, Library Director, at 330-335-1299 or via email at daniel.slife@wadsworthlibrary.com.

Improvements will Include:

  • 3 new study rooms on the first floor
  • Relocation of and reinvestment in the Local History Room, including a new digital archive and memory preservation lab available for patron use;
  • Major renovation of the courtyard to create both a reading garden and optimal outdoor programming space;
  • A new community meeting room adjacent to the courtyard to accommodate high demand for programming and community meetings;
  • Further updates to the young adult area, including new seating, acoustical redesign and lighting improvements, and potential interactive features
  • Full renovation of the lobby and main restrooms on first floor;
  • Consolidation and reduction of behind-the-scenes staff areas, including lower level.

Temporary Changes to Library Services:

  • History Room Collection: The History Room will be temporarily closed for browsing starting approximately April 5 - November 15. Staff will still be able to gather most items from the collection upon request.
  • Microfilm Browsing: Unfortunately, microfilm browsing will be unavailable during the construction period.
  • Young Adult Collection: The Young Adult collection will be temporarily relocated, and there will be periods of time when it is inaccessible to the public.
  • Courtyard: Our Courtyard will remain closed through the end of June when it will reopen as our new reading garden.
  • Drive-Up Window Closure: Our drive-up window will be closed from approximately April 11 – September 1.
  • Curbside Pickup: For patrons in need, curbside pickup will be available. To use curbside service, please pull into one of the designated spots located in our West parking lot off of Broad Street. Be ready to provide your name and library card number. A staff member will bring your items out to your car and pick up any returns as needed.
