Hear local author and veteran J.M. McGarrity speak at this Veterans Day edition of our Second Thursday series. McGarrity will talk about his book, Checkpoint One-Four: A Vietnam Veteran's Chronicle of Surviving Guilt, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Mending the Invisible Wound.

This sounds like a great presentation. Would you ask Mr. McGarrity if he is presenting this again in the evening any place in our area? I teach, and cannot miss those hours from my schedule, otherwise I would be right there listening. Thanks so much.

I can pass your question along to Mr. McGarrity, Donna. I'll post his response here. In the meantime, you can also watch the interview I did with him for the Library's November show on WCTV. Here is the link: http://www.wadsworthlibrary.com/main/vodcasts.cfm. Also, Mr. McGarrity said that there would be an in-depth article coming up in a Sunday Akron Beacon Journal sometime soon.

This was definitely a worthwhile program. Mr. McGarrity described events in vivid detail, completely holding the attention of the audience. He was able to articulate the details of PTSD quite well.
