In conjunction with the visit to Wadsworth of the traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall, veteran, author, and the man behind the creation of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC, Jan Craig Scruggs, will speak at O. J. Work Auditorium on May 28 at 7 pm.
It was Scruggs' idea to create a memorial, listing the names of the 58,000 who died in Vietnam, and his determination and vision that oversaw the raising of the millions needed to build it. He is the author of
To Heal a Nation, the story behind the creation of the memorial. A made-for-TV movie of the same title stars actor Eric Roberts. (The movie will be shown at the Library on
Tuesday, May 27 at 7 pm.) More recently, Scruggs authored
Why Vietnam Still Matters, a book he dedicated to high school students.
Tickets are not required for this free presentation. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wadsworth Library. For further information, contact Janet Griffing at 330-335-2604 or
