Hector, a young psychiatrist, finds himself growing tired of his ho-hum life. He uses all of his training and techniques, but cannot find the answer for how his life can be happier. Hector decides to set off on an adventure to travel the world and meet new people. Hector believes that from the people he meets, he will find out what makes people happy or unhappy. Hector travels from Paris to China to Africa to the United States, all the while keeping notes of his observations in his attempt to find the secret of happiness. Hector goes through a laundry list of people from his past to new serendipitous encounters that challenge his idea of who a person is and what is the meaning of happiness.
