Adult Summer Reading Book Reviews

The Silence

by Tim Lebbon

A book review by patron, Aimee Shaffer.

The Silence drew me in after the first few paragraphs. This was one of those books that was so intense I had to put it down, but as soon as I put it down I had to pick it back up again to see what was happening next. The only criticism I had was the ending. Seemed somewhat abrupt and anti-climactic. But it definitely left me wanting more.

Confess

by Colleen Hoover

A book review by patron, Catherine Chudakoff.

Confess is a book about two people who are brought together by fate. The main characters carry secrets that each are unwilling to share in the beginning. The story continues as the characters are faced with difficulties which keep them apart. The ending wraps up all the confusing parts with a pretty bow and it ends happily ever after! I love Colleen Hoover and the love stories she writes. She writes in a way where the reader can feel what the characters are feeling. If you’re into love stories with happy endings this is the book for you! Though the story has a happy ending, there are moments when you feel like everything is going to come crumbling to an end. The author tends to throw in plot twists which keep you wanting to read more!

Life Lessons with Max Lucado: Book of Genesis

by Max Lucado

A book review by patron, Aimee Shaffer.

Absolutely loved this bible study. I'm anxious to read the others that Max Lucado has published. He has a way of bringing the Bible to life and making it real. I highly recommend this study, especially for someone new to the faith.
